Beauty and force burn through the drumming of Greg Gonzalez. From powering the pocket behind Teddy Geiger to stretching out and jamming with Jazz Mandolin Project to the pure emotional unleashing of Cecil Taylor's free Jazz, Greg has one simple philosophy to playing music: "get up there and bleed."

Growing up in Venice, CA, Greg had the privilege of studying with known guru Freddie Gruber as well as attending Dick Grove School of Music and UCLA Music School where he studied with legends such as David Garibladi, Louis Conte and Mitchell Peters. He moved to New York City in the early 90's and honed his craft by playing with talents such as Falu, Ron Affif, Ben Alison, Jay Rodriguez and Sonya Kitchell. Over the years Greg has also become a unique and adept songwriter, recently releasing his self produced EP entitled Concrete Reality by his band X is X. Other career highlights include a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival with his original jazz project Exegesis, appearances on Late Night With David Letterman, MTV, Regis and Kelly, Ellen DeGeneres with Teddy Geiger, and a European tour with Alice Texas and the late Chris Whitley.
